Chinese callligraphy / Japanese sumi ink well - grinding stone with cover, charcoal black Review

Chinese callligraphy / Japanese sumi ink well - grinding stone with cover, charcoal blackThis is a decent ink grinding stone for only seven dollars. It looks great, very zen-like and grinds the ink stick well. The color is charcoal and measures 3 by 3 inches with the inkwell portion one half inch thick. The lid is a great feature for keeping the ink from drying out if you have to leave off painting for a bit.I've been grinding ink on this stone quite a bit and the surface hasn't scratched or been grooved, which is more than I can say for a couple other stones I have used.I rated this product a 5 not because it is the best on the market, but because for the price it is quite a good machine carved stone.

Reorient's traditional ink well comes from Shanghai and is made today in much the same was as hundreds of years ago. The authentic cold stone is instrumental in the arts of both literature and watercolor brush painting throughout Asia. In the Zen discipline, brushwork is also used as an exercise in meditation.
